This is the first podcast in a brand new series where we’re getting to the bottom, or maybe perhaps better said, the ROOT, of why believers like us, don’t have more joy in their lives.
Over the next few weeks, we’re going to look at the REAL problem behind our lack of joy, what’s causing it, what’s not, and what we can do about it. Gina Smith, author of our newest prayer journal, Everyday Prayers for Joy, will be joining us on this deep dive. I think you’ll find this season unique in that we’re going to be looking below the surface, into the heart of why most believers live with less joy than they have access to. We’re not just going to give you 5 steps to a more joyful new year, although we will get practical later in the season. No, we’re going to help root out the real, heart-level reasons joy seems illusive for most Christians, and hopefully, help you walk away with a completely different perspective on the topic.
Today’s episode? What if half the problem is that we don’t actually know what true, biblical joy is, or what it’s supposed to look like? Let’s fix that problem first, right?

What is Joy?
We can receive fleeting moments of it when we watch sunlight break through the clouds, or see a little child laugh as he blows apart the fluff of a spent dandelion. But there is only one source of true, lasting joy—and that’s our Savior, Jesus.
Everyday Prayers for Joy is a thirty-day journey through God’s Word that will help you discover the joy that God wants to share with you. He is with you always and can work out all things for good. Fill yourself to overflowing with God’s joy!
