“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good. His love endures forever.” — Psalm 136:1
My first Valentine’s Day in fifth grade ended with a half-empty box of chocolates and a full heart of disappointment. It was a small moment, but it revealed a big truth: human love often falls short.
We’ve all felt it—broken promises, unmet expectations, relationships that didn’t last. And if we’re honest, we’ve also been the ones who failed to love well. Because we’re imperfect, our love is imperfect.
That’s why Psalm 136 is so powerful. Twenty-six times it repeats the same refrain: “His love endures forever.” The repetition reminds us that while people change, God does not. His love isn’t conditional, careless, or temporary. It is steady, constant, and unending.
If you’re feeling empty today, remember: the love you’re longing for is found fully in Him. Reflect on the ways He has shown up in your life, and after each one, declare: God’s love never fails.
Unlike that childhood box of chocolates, His love will never run out.
