Real life has a way of testing even the most optimistic heart.
We pray for healing, restored relationships, open doors, financial provision, positive pregnancy tests, and loved ones to know Christ. Sometimes our hopes rise—only to be crushed. Even strong faith can grow weary in the waiting.
Mary and Martha knew that feeling. When their brother Lazarus became sick, they sent for Jesus. Though He loved them, He delayed. By the time He arrived, Lazarus had been in the tomb four days. In their grief, they cried, “If You had been here…”
Jesus wept. Then He called Lazarus out of the grave.
Their story in the Gospel of John reminds us that God’s delays are not denials. When hope seemed buried, Jesus revealed His glory.
The world may feel heavy, but our hope is not a fairy tale. It’s a person—Jesus. Not a prince on a white horse, but the King of Kings who entered Jerusalem humbly and will one day return in glory.
So we wait. We trust. We hope in His unfailing love.
Because even in the darkest pause, resurrection is on the way.
