A Prayer for Love that Protects

In this episode of the Everyday Prayers Podcast, we’re reminded of a powerful truth: God’s love doesn’t just forgive—it covers, protects, and makes us secure.

Through a touching story of a young child describing her father as someone who protects her, we’re invited to consider our own longing for a safe place—a place where we can be fully known and still fully loved. While earthly relationships may fall short, we have a heavenly Father whose love never fails. His love is a refuge where we can rest without fear or shame.

Scripture tells us that love “always protects” and “bears all things,” meaning it covers completely. From the very beginning, God has been covering His people. When Adam and Eve sinned, He clothed their shame. Ultimately, that covering was fulfilled through Jesus, who bore our sin on the cross. Through His sacrifice, our guilt is removed, and we are made right with God—fully covered by His grace.

Because we are covered by His love, we are called to extend that same love to others. Instead of keeping score or stirring up division, we can choose to forgive, allowing God’s love to cover offenses and bring unity.

No matter your story or past experiences, you can take refuge in God’s love. He is your strength, your shield, and your safe place. His love covers you completely—now and forever.

In Everyday Prayers for Love: Learning to Love God, Others, and Even Yourself, Rachael extends the tender invitation from a loving God to His beloved. She explores the concept of biblical love and then guides readers through practical ways to live out love for others.
