Before Jesus’ birth came the miracle birth of John the Baptist, born to Zechariah and Elizabeth after years of waiting and silence. After 400 years without a prophetic word, John’s arrival signaled that God was once again speaking—and that the light was near. Zechariah’s Spirit-filled praise revealed that Jesus would be heaven’s first light, breaking into human darkness with mercy and salvation.
The message is simple and reassuring: even when God seems silent, he is still at work. By his tender mercy, he sent the Light right on time. Jesus, the Daybreak from on high, continues to shine into our darkness today, showing us the way of peace and calling us to let his light be born afresh in our hearts.
