Identity is a hot topic nowadays. Where are we and our kids to turn for direction and answers? Where are we to turn for truth? God’s Word.
No matter what questions may come up now or in the future, the principles and truths in God’s Word stand firm forever. We can trust what He says about who our kids are and where their worth comes from. We can point them to God when this world tempts them to question who they are at every turn. When we point them to God and His Word, we’re laying a foundation that will last them throughout their lifetime.
And that is the most important thing. Identity is the hot topic today, but twenty years from now there will be another. We want our kids to always know where to turn for truth no matter what questions may arise during their lifetime.
Scripture Prayers for Your Child’s Identity
Romans 5:21
Father, may our children know that no matter what mistakes they have made, when they are in you, sin no longer rules over them. By your grace, you declare them free and fully yours in Christ.
Ephesians 1:4-5
Father, you tell us and our children that we are loved, chosen, adopted, and without fault in your eyes through the work of Jesus. Please help us to believe these truths and help them to sink deep into our hearts.
Colossians 1:22
Father, may our children know they are reconciled to you holy, blameless, and without fault. May the world’s labels not stick to them. Instead, may your truth penetrate deep into their hearts.
Zephaniah 3:17
Father, may our children know that you love them and rejoice over them with joyful songs. May the truth of your love and the music of your song drown out the other voices in their lives.
Matthew 28:20
Father, may our children know that you are with them forever. They are never alone.

Hello. I do not have a comment, but a question. I have a nephew who is getting bullied relentlessly at school- even to the point that he asked the police officer in his school if he would get into trouble if he committed suicide. That broke my heart. The same day that happened, he came home to tell me instead of his parents. I told him that he is made in the image of God, and that Satan is working through those kids to bully him and steal his joy. The kids keep putting into his mind that he is gay; and he has a tough time finding boys who will play and talk to him. So, he talks and plays mostly with girls. The boys who will talk to him are trouble makers in school. He sometimes does do things that are effeminate. His parents do not monitor him the way they truly should with YouTube, and always find him gravitating toward shows and content that have heavy homosexual influences and themes. When I ask him why he watches those things, he says that he finds homosexuals more entertaining and fun than straight people. I know this is Satan’s agenda to get them when they are younger and younger, but God is stronger and mightier. Would you be able to give me some suggestions on what to do? His dad is the believer, but his mom is not. The dad is, many times, preoccupied with work, or does not engage with the kids as much. I will continue to pray for him, and I do pray with my nephew, when I can; but I just felt so broken and hurt when he told me he has thought about the ways he could kill himself. This happened yesterday, so I will be speaking to his dad about the situation today; but I would also like to ask you to pray for him as well. My nephew’s name is Emmanuel. Thank you, and God bless.
