A Prayer to Be More Loving

I’m a homeschool mom, and teaching my daughter to read was far more challenging than I anticipated. We spent months sitting at our table as she agonizingly attempted to sound out each letter and form the words aloud. It was a frustrating and painful process. There were tears and some shouting from both of us. I felt like a failure, and so did she. But my love for her compelled me to continue. I prayed for patience, for wisdom to know how to help her, and for ways to love and serve her better. One day, instead of sitting at the table like we usually did, I called her to the couch and cuddled her in my lap as we worked through the lesson. It’s amazing what that simple act of love did for her.

Today’s prayer is based on the book by Katie J. Trent, Dishing Up Devotions: 36 Faith-Building Activities for Homeschooling Families.
