The Book for Moms Who Want to Pray

Praying Mom was sparked by a simple question to thousands of moms: “If you believe you should be praying but you aren’t, why not?” Their answers revealed seven common challenges and beliefs moms have, including:

  • I don’t know what or how to pray
  • I don’t know if my prayers really matter
  • I can’t pray until I get my life together
  • I don’t believe God hears my prayers
  • I’m so busy!

If you have struggled to have the vibrant prayer life you know God offers, Praying Mom is the book for you. It gets to the heart of what’s tripping you up, and offers biblical insight that allows you to move forward. Complete with prayers for specific everyday situations, this book will have you making prayer your first and best response to every aspect of family life.

Few things in life can humble you like motherhood can. And yet, how often do we try to white-knuckle our way through it all? Read this gift of a book and learn how to clasp your hands together in a new way: in prayer and praise to the One who’ll carry you through.

Our Method of Daily Prayer

When I first started praying for my own children, I was inspired by two important truths about God’s Word:

1. That it is “living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart (Hebrews 4:12, ESV).

2. That it “shall not return to me (God) empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it (Isaiah 55:11, ESV).

If those two verses were true, and I believed they were, then it seemed to me that there could be no better thing to pray than God’s Word itself! Because this experience was so deeply profound for me, it’s the same one I’ve used to teach other women to pray! I call it my “Think, Pray, Praise” method. It’s a practical, biblical way to pray the Word of God over yourself or the people you love. Let me walk you through what it is step-by-step (with pictures)!

Million Praying Moms has transformed my parenting by providing encouragement as I focus on what’s most important to me as a mom—praying for my children! Through different stages and seasons, MPM continues to equip me with exactly what I need (sometimes even before I know I need it!). I’m thankful for the ways the ministry has grown and expanded with so many resource options through social media posts, books, the podcast, and more.

Over that last decade Million Praying Moms has truly helped me make prayer my first response. Before I walk in on my boys arguing, I’ve learned to pray for wisdom. As I’m struggling to keep up with our schedules, I’ve learned to pray for strength. When I’m at my wits’ end, I’ve learned to pray for help. All of this while anchoring my prayers and my family in God’s word.

The thing I appreciate about Brooke is her heart to direct moms to the most important thing they can do for their children: Pray. She is a woman who loves God’s Word, loves praying God’s Word, and loves teaching women to pray God’s Word. Working with her for several years has helped me to grow in my prayer life. I am so thankful for the ministry of Million Praying Moms and for how God has used Brooke in my life.

Million Praying Moms consistently reminds me that God is the one who cares most for my kids and will have the most impact on their hearts. When I’m tempted to stress over my son’s behavior or heart, I’m gently reminded that the very best thing I can do is pray for him (and invite God to work in my own heart too). I’m a much more gentle, patient mom as a result of MPM consistently reminding me to lay my sons in God’s hands.
