A Prayer to Look Upon the Light

In this episode of the Everyday Prayers Podcast, we’re reminded in Job 33:28 that God is a rescuer and redeemer: “He has redeemed my soul from going down into the pit, and my life shall look upon the light.” Though Elihu’s words to Job are not perfect, they point toward a key truth—God does not allow suffering to punish us, but to refine us and draw us closer to Himself. In the midst of pain, Job is encouraged to lift his eyes and look toward God.

For us, the Christmas story brings this truth into full focus. Every question Job asked in the darkness finds its answer in Jesus.

This season of light reminds us that even in the darkest moments, God is present, faithful, and at work. As we reflect on His light, may we also be a source of encouragement to others—pointing the weary, and even ourselves, back to the One who brings light into every shadow.
